eBuild Help: Review Comments

When plans submitted to eBuild cannot be approved without modification, you'll receive a Review Comments notice from the Project Coordinator detailing the issues flagged by City plan reviewers. There are 3 types of Review Comments notices corresponding to the 3 types of plan submittals:

  • Plan Review Comments
  • SI Review Comments
  • Deferred Submittal Review Comments

Attached to the Review Comments notice will be a Plan Review Issues Summary. Issues must be addressed before the plans can be approved. Each issue will note on what plan sheet it has been noted. A major new feature of eBuild projects is that the marked up plan sheets are available for download to help you understand the context of the comments.

A Plan Review Requirements Summary will also be attached. Requirements do not need to be addressed before plans are approved. However, the inspectors will check that the requirements have been met before approving the final inspection.

Also included on the Plan Review Requirements Summary will be a list of attachments. Attachments contain information regarding code requirements for your project that you need to be aware of during the construction process. Be sure to review all attachments before you start construction. Attachments should also be printed and attached to your approved construction documents to be maintained at the job site.

Responding to Review Comments

Typically, issues flagged in a Review Comments notice are addressed by submitting revised drawings. When responding to Review Comments, it's important to remember:

  • You do not need to submit new copies of drawing which haven't changed.
  • If you submit a revised drawing, make sure it has the exact same file name as the original. Do not indicate in the file name that the drawing has been revised. If you do, you will be asked to resubmit your response.
  • When uploading a response or supplemental information be sure to click on the Check File Names button before uploading your drawings. eBuild will tell you if you are uploading files with new file names. This will give you an opportunity to fix any file name issues before you upload and save time.
  • You can submit new drawings in the response if they should be considered as part of the review.
  • You should try to submit everything needed to address all the issues in one response.
