Building and Permit Services currently offers an express permit application review program for specific projects. With your commitment of time and active participation in the review process, our goal is to be able to issue the permit on the same day. During your scheduled review time, plans examiners from various disciplines will review the individual code requirements of their respective fields. If needed, staff will call you to discuss any necessary revisions to the plan set to bring designs into full code compliance.

To schedule a review time for your review through eBuild, you will submit your application and drawings online through eBuild as you normally would, then choose an available scheduled review time that works for you. Review times are available up to two weeks out. You can submit your application up until 3:00 PM the day before the review time as long as a review time is available.

You can check availability of meeting times by logging into eBuild and going to the New Project page. In the section, Commercial or Residential, under the express permit option, click the Check Availability button:

Step 1: Prepare and Submit Your Plans

There are specific applications for commercial and residential Express Permit projects. The applications contain a checklist you will need to complete to verify that your project qualifies for the program. If you have questions, please review the guidelines available on the City website under Commercial Express Permits and Residential Express Permits.

Step 2: Choose Your Review Time

After submitting your plans, you'll be asked to select a review time that will work for you. The owner or person authorized by the owner to make modifications to the plans/design must be available by phone during the entire selected review time.

Just click the Reserve button for the time of your choice.

Your express project submittal is not complete until you choose a meeting time.

Once you've created an express permit project, the project will be marked in your Active Projects list with a calendar icon:

Just click the icon to see the scheduled review time.

What Happens Next?

That's all there is to it. Now it's up to the City staff to screen your application and other materials. You will receive a notice advising you of the next step:

Notice of Accepted Application

This confirms that your application is complete and your scheduled review time is confirmed.

Notice of Incomplete Application

Your application packet is missing items that are required for review. If you receive this notice, your requested review time will be released and made available to other applicants. When you submit with all required items, you will have the opportunity to schedule a new review time. Upon receipt of your corrections, a second completeness review is done. If the submittal requirements still are not met after the second completeness review is done, your project will be returned to you as ineligible for the Express Permits program.

Your project does not qualify for the Express Permit Program. Your review time will be released and made available to other applicants. Your project will be automatically converted to the regular eBuild review process. You will not need to reapply.

Before your scheduled review time, you'll have the ability to reschedule or cancel your scheduled time and to convert your project to the regular eBuild review process. To access these options, click the Manage button for the project.
