eBuild Help: Notices

Notices are formal communications you receive from the City. They are usually notices which inform you of decisions made by Building & Permit Services staff concerning your project. The type of notices are listed below with a short explanation of their meaning.

Notices will often change the status of your project indicating that some action on your part is needed to move your project forward to the next stage.

Types of Notices

Notice of Project About to Expire

If you create a project and start submitting plans but complete the process within 30 days, your project will expire. 10 days before that, you'll receive a Notice of Project About to Expire to remind you that the project submittal isn't complete.

Status: Application Submitted or Submitting Plans

Action Items: Complete New Project Submittal.

Notice of Application About to Expire

If we send you a Notice of Incomplete Application and you don't respond within 60 days, your project will expire. 10 days before that, you'll receive a Notice of Project About to Expire to remind you that the project submittal isn't complete.

Status: Application Incomplete

Action Items: Submit a Response to Notice of Incomplete Application.

Notice of Incomplete Application

When you first file an application for a new project, the materials you submit are checked for completeness. If anything required to start plan review is missing, you'll receive a Notice of Incomplete Application detailing what's missing.

Status: Application Incomplete

Action Items: Submit a Response to Notice of Incomplete Application with the materials required to complete the application.

Notice of Accepted Application

When your application is deemed complete you'll receive a Notice of Accepted Application indicating it has been accepted for review.

Status: Application Complete

Action Items: None

Notice of Denied Application

If your application cannot be accepted for review, you'll receive a Notice of Denied Application explaining our decision and what your options are.

Status: Application Denied

Action Items: None

Plan Review Commitment Letter

After your application has been accepted, a project coordinator will be assigned as your contact person at the City. The project coordinator will send you an Plan Review Commitment Letter with their name, phone number and email address, and a commitment date by which the plan review should be completed.

Status: Plans in Review

Action Items: None

Plan Review Comments

If the plans you submitted cannot be approved as submitted, you'll receive Plan Review Comments detailing issues which need to be addressed.

Status: Response Required

Action Items: Submit a response to the issues raised

Partial Plan Review Comments

If the plans you submitted cannot be approved as submitted, you'll receive Plan Review Comments detailing issues which need to be addressed. However, before the review is completed, we may send a Partial Plan Review Comments so that you can begin to address the issues prior to receiving the complete notice.

Status: Plans in Review

Action Items: No action is required until you receive the complete Plan Review Comments notice.

Notice of Plan Review Completed

When the plan review is completed and we're ready to issue your permits, you'll receive a Notice of Plan Review Completed. The notice will explain what you need to do.

Status: Plan Review Completed

Action Items: Pay fees, Assign Contractors, Submit Electrical Application

Notice of Permit Issuance

When you've completed all the actions explained in the Notice of Plan Review Completed, we'll issue your permits and send you a Notice of Permit Issuance with links to the approved plan set. When you receive this notice, you're ready to print your permits and start construction.

Status: Permits Issued

Action Items: None

SI Review Comments

If, during the course of your project, you submit changes to approved plans (Supplemental information or SI), we'll review those changes. If they cannot be approved as submitted, you'll receive SI Review Comments, similar to Plan Review Comments, detailing issues that must be addressed.

Action Items: Submit a Response to SI Review Comments

Notice of Approved SI

When the review of your SI submittal is complete, you'll recieve a Notice of Approved SI with links to the approved plan set. You can then make the changes that have been approved.

Action Items: Pay Fees

Deferred Submittal Review Comments

If, during the course of your project, you make a deferred submittal, we'll review those plans. If they cannot be approved as submitted, you'll receive Deferred Submittal Review Comments, similar to Plan Review Comments, detailing issues that must be addressed.

Action Items: Submit a Response to Deferred Submittal Review Comments

Notice of Approved Deferred Submittal

When the review of your deferred submittal is complete, you'll recieve a Notice of Approved Deferred Submittal with links to the approved plan set. You can then start the work that has been approved.

Action Items: Pay Fees
